Our local dechetterie has loads on offer but I'm concerned as to what's in it i.e. chemicals and persistent weeds. Does anyone have any experience of using it in the garden ?

It is what it is ....

I used the compost from our dechetterie last year and the roses and dahlias have survived.

However as the dechettrie compost looks like it has been well ground up and possibly heat treated it had a very woody appearance, however I mixed it with top-soil and horse manure (Fumier du Cheval).

Will continue to use it.

I'll soar like an eagle rather than cower with the crows.

Yes collected two loads last year which we used in garden. Ours had been heat treated. great result and no tomatoes or other seeds. NB the weight in a full 1.25 by 1.75 by 0.30 trailer was almost 500 kg so do not load to the limit if you have a large 500 kg trailer.

Ours gives you the breakdown of the content. I used it to "bulk up" our otherwise very dry free draining soil and am pleased with the results - so went back for more this year!
