I've also posted this in Limousin, but since it is right on the Dordogne border, I'll try my luck here as well!!

Does anyone know if the development of Chateau Ballerand, between Abjat-sur-Bandiat (24) and Marval (87), includes a golf course? It certainly looks as though they might be clearing land for one, but nobody I have spoken to seems to know anything concrete! :?

Any info/contacts would be much appreciated!

Hi!

Here details of what they seem to be doing - no golf course mentionned, but that does not necessarily have to be conclusive.

1. Go to the Mairie ( which is competent ). Also look outside on the board, the Permis de Construire will be posted.

2. See here ( call the building firm);

3. Ask the next Bureau de Tourisme : Marval est le siège de la communauté de communes Bandiat-Tardoire.

4. Ask the local weekly paper.

Yours,

pomhorn

Hi you two,

What is going on in Ballerand? What is going on is in my opinion absolutely disgusting, they've ruined a 15th century château (in their words they are "restoring", but the word "restore" means to "put back in original condition", something that is NOT going to happen as they intend to enlarge it, after having gutted it completely (removal of 16th century chapel etc etc...)
You can find out more at http://www.stopballerand.org . You can also join "The association Defense de l’Environnement de Marval" whose aim it is to protect the environment. Even though vast destruction has already taken place, it is never too little to late as they intend to continue the destruction.

Hope this helps!

We drove through it today and it looks really good (castle) - the land is all park land around it, neatly cut and lots of new trees planted at one end - I would love to know what its going to end up being?
