We are trying to obtain an insurance quote from our French insurers for a recently purchased secondhand UK registered Audi A3. Our particular model is not on their system and they need to know the 'nombre de chevaux reels' and the 'nombre de chevaux fiscaux '. Can anyone explain these and how to calculate the latter? I understand that the latter has a bearing on the cost to re-register in France.

If you give the exact model/year engine spec etc someone may be able to find it for you. :-)

As Jenny says, year, model, petrol/diesel, engine size etc.
Fiscal HP can be found on CofC, if you have one. It is purely a French thing.

The problem is that our model doesn't appear on the French insurer's list. It is called 'black edition'.
Details are:
Audi A3 2.00 tdi
Year 2011
Engine size 1968
Bhp 140
Cylinders 4
Valves 16
Engine torque 236 lbs/ft,
Co2 emissions 115g/km
It has a stop/start system but don't know if this as any bearing in the calculation.
