I have what looks like hundreds of tiny round flat slug like creatures all over the branches and under the leaves of my Camilia. I have tried greenfly killer (Rapid) and have just been out wiping them off with a tissue - I now feel very sick. There is some white stuff which is webby (is that a word?)Can somone identify the thing for me and let me know how to kill them off. I need help fast... Many thanks in anticipation. :(

It could be camellia teascale.
Look it up on Google - it mentions the webby stuff, but the creatures might be different.

(Link Tiny'd by Moderator).

Picture on the left top side and if you scroll down half page you see the larvae.
If so, Nematodes will help.

(Sorry for the km-long link -- forgot how to minimse that... but important is only : it works).

Also - just an idea downy or owdery mildew (simple spray will do).

Hi Donata, Thanks but they don't resemble that at all. Sorry for not describing well - the are very tiny, flat and round and some are dark grey others are very pale. When I took them off with the tissue -uurgh, they looked like a slug underneath.

Hi Tricia,

I think this may be it. They are on the branches of the Camelia too and right inside the new growth of plant. I am sure I had them on an Acer a few years ago and I sprayed with 'Rapid' and that got rid of them, but this time the Camelia is infested. I will now take appropriate action.

Many thanks - this forum is fab.
